Catholic Relief Services is Fighting Famine and the Food Crises in East Africa

Answering a Global Call for Emergency

20 million people are facing famine and starvation due to violent conflict and drought

Spotlight: Catholic Relief Services

Catholic Relief Services was established in 1943 to help a war-ravaged Europe and its refugees. It has since expanded its global reach, with a focus on responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and self-sustaining societies around the world.

CRF is currently focusing efforts toward the African Hunger Crises. 20 million people across several countries are currently facing famine and starvation. Years of drought, failed crops and violenct conflict have left the area in a state of extreme emergency. Approximately 1.4 million children are at immediate risk of death. The Glad To Be Here Foundation has been greatly inspired by Catholic Relief Services and their response with emergency food aid, water and financial assistance.

The Glad To Be Here Foundation congratulates Catholic Relief Services on winning the MacArthur Foundation’s ‘100&Change’ grant competition – we salute your tenacious efforts to create meaningful and lasting change in our world.
